Review of The Executive x Bluebonnet

I recently got my hands on the Bluebonnet French Premium Leather Apple Watch Band in Saddle Tan, and I’ve been testing it with my Hermès Series 10 and Hermès Ultra 2. Soon I’ll share the full video review, but here are my first impressions and what makes this band stand out.

First Impressions & Build Quality

  • The Saddle Tan version uses Barenia full-grain calfskin leather from the Tanneries Haas (France), which has a reputation for being rich, buttery, and developing a beautiful patina over time.
  • It has Bluebonnet’s signature blue loop and crème stitching, which offers a nice contrast — the details give it just enough flair without overwhelming elegance.
  • Buckle is polished silver; the inner lining is also leather, crafted for comfort.

Key Features & What Sets It Apart

  • Heritage Leather Source — Haas tannery has been making leather since 1842; their Barenia leather uses a double-tanning process (chrome + vegetable) plus oil treatment over several weeks. It’s premium.
  • Strap Construction — Multi-layer strap process (4 layers), with full-grain outer, filled structure, and good finishing around edges. Holds up well in terms of build.
  • Compatibility — Works with all sizes (Small / Large), compatible with Apple Watch Series 10, Hermès Ultra 2, and earlier models. Easy to swap thanks to quick-release adapters.

How It Feels & Wearability

  • Comfortable on wrist — the lining is smooth, though with leather bands there’s always a break-in period until it softens.
  • Looks good in both casual and more dressed-up settings. The Saddle Tan shade is versatile: warm without being too bold, pairs well with silver or neutral tones.
  • Over time, expect it to develop character — patina, slight darkening in areas, etc.

Comparison & Verdict (with Hermès Series 10 vs Hermès Ultra 2)

AspectWith Hermès Series 10With Hermès Ultra 2
Comfort after all-day wearLikely to be very similar: less weight on the band due to lighter watch bodyYou’ll notice the Ultra 2’s heft, but the band balances nicely thanks to its craftsmanship
Style matchingLooks elegant and refined — complements Hermès styling cleanlyPairs well, though contrast more pronounced due to Ultra 2’s rugged design; still maintains classy appeal
Durability & PatinaShould age beautifully; leather softens and becomes more personalizedSame, though heavy-use or sweat exposure will test the finish more visibly

Verdict / Recommendation

If you want a luxury leather band that bridges classic elegance and daily usability, the Saddle Tan Barenia leather band from Bluebonnet is an excellent choice. It delivers refined materials, great build quality, and style versatility. If you care about how things look and feel — especially with premium watches — this is a band worth considering.

Closing Thoughts & What to Watch in the Full Video

  • I’ll be looking closely at how the leather holds up over a few weeks (wear-marks, water exposure, sweat).
  • Also comparing side-by-side with other bands in my collection for color tones, buckle finish, and comfort.
