Milo the Mongoose – Book 3: Lessons in Sharing & Speaking Up

Written & Illustrated by Joshua N. Campbell

Milo is back! The curious little mongoose who first won hearts across the beaches of St. Croix continues his journey in Book 3: Lessons in Sharing & Speaking Up. This time, his adventures take a more thoughtful turn as he explores what it means to be generous—and brave in ways that matter most.

In Lesson 5 – The Gift of the Breadfruit, Milo stumbles upon a perfectly ripe breadfruit. It’s big, beautiful, and just for him—or so he thinks. As he carries it across the island, encounters with others begin to shift his view. He learns that sharing, even when it’s hard, has a way of feeding more than just hungry bellies—it nourishes friendships and warms the heart.

In Lesson 6 – The Trouble with Not Telling, Milo breaks something special: a woven basket that belongs to someone he cares about. At first, he hides the truth, hoping no one will notice. But the weight of the secret grows heavy. With the quiet support of a friend, Milo discovers that speaking up—even when it’s uncomfortable—is the first step toward making things right.

Like the rest of the series, Book 3 pairs soft watercolor art with gentle storytelling. These stories encourage young readers to reflect on the kind of people they want to be—kind, courageous, and honest, even when no one’s watching.

Whether you’re reading to a toddler or teaching early life lessons to a preschooler, Milo the Mongoose – Book 3 is a thoughtful addition to any little one’s library.
